The Five Dollar Favor: A Quick Way You Can Support Lee Jeans' Denim Day for Cancer.

The Five Dollar Favor: A Quick Way You Can Support Lee Jeans' Denim Day for Cancer.

There are literally hundreds of worthy causes fighting cancer out there. And since October is breast cancer awareness month, you’ll likely soon see pink ribbons adorning all sorts of things that you buy, view and consume.

One of the biggies is “Lee Jeans’ National Denim Day” which has a whole bunch of celebrity ambassadors.

Here’s how it works.

You donate $5 at the Denim Day website and then, on Friday, October 8, your corporate overloards will let you wear jeans to work.

The thing is though, many of you already wear jeans whenever you damn well please. And all this, “create a team!” who-ha connected with the official Denim Day campaign might just seem like added work.

So we want to simplify the pitch for our social media friends…

Would you please take a moment right now and simply donate $5.00 to fight cancer?

Then on October 8, you can wear jeans, wear a suit…heck, even go naked. Just go about your regular business and have a lovely day.

Why we like Denim Day

Forty percent of your Denim Day donation will stay in the Twin Cities and help the organization, Gilda’s Club, open its’ doors.

Gilda’s is named for late, great Gilda Radner, one of the original cast members of Lil Gilda RadnerSaturday Night Live and a very, funny lady.  (Millennials, go Google her.)

The Clubhouses founded in her name (they are all over the country) are NOT just for people with breast cancer.

They’re for men, women, families – heck, pretty much anyone who is touched by any type of cancer and thinks it sucks.

Oh yeah…did we mention that their services are free?

Anyone who’s ever been blown off by doctors while dealing with a chronic medical condition (myself included), knows how important it is to have a place to go to talk, decompress, be angry, socialize, educate, and laugh.

(Did we mention that Gilda’s Clubs also have “Noogieland,” a special area with activities for children impacted by cancer? We love the thought of giving cancer a big fat noogie.)

So that’s it.

Yes, we’d love it if you could help spread the word about Denim Day. (Ambassador, Felicity Huffman may be on TV and all, but her social media presence isn’t anything to write home about. And don’t even get us started about Lee’s social for this campaign. Psst…Lee peeps, call us. We can help.)

And yes, your retweets of Denim Day news will be helpful. (KaneCo just helped Gilda’s get set up on Twitter,* so please be kind.)

Unfortunately though, posts and retweets don’t necessarily pay the bills.

What Gilda’s really needs right now is your $5 favor.

*In accordance with FTC guidelines regarding disclosure, we should note that Gilda’s Club is not a paying client of Kane Consulting. Our services are a pro bono gift to this organization.
